Thronefall: A Little Kingdom is a masterclass in 'just one more round' gameplay. It successfully distills the complex RTS genre into a minimalist, beautiful experience that works perfectly on mobile. By day you build, and by night you defend, creating a rhythmic loop that is incredibly hard to put down.

The strategic depth is hidden beneath a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Deciding whether to invest in your economy or bolster your walls is a constant, meaningful tension. It's a rare strategy game that feels relaxing yet challenging at the same time. Highly recommended for anyone who wants high-level strategy without the clutter.

Dinsun Review

I usually prefer my strategy games with a manual the size of a phone book, but Thronefall has won me over. It understands that 'depth' and 'complexity' are not the same thing. By limiting your choices, it actually makes each choice more impactful. Do you build an extra mill for gold, or a tower for defense? The daytime building phase is tense because you know the night is coming, and the night-time combat is surprisingly satisfying for a 'minimalist' title.

It’s not perfect—the lack of manual troop control during the nights can be frustrating when your archers decide to target a single bat instead of the giant troll smashing your gate. And as a 40-year-old who likes to settle into a long campaign, the individual levels can feel a bit bite-sized. But for a mobile title, this is top-tier. It respects the player's intelligence without burying them in busywork. A solid 74, which is about as high as I go for something this streamlined.

Saddle the horses! See your kingdom come to life, fight gripping battles to defend it and still be done in time for lunch.

With Thronefall we tried to strip a classic strategy game from all unnecessary complexity, combining it with a healthy amount of hack and slay. Build up your base during the day, defend it til your last breath at night.

Will you be able to strike the right balance between economy and defense? Do you need more archers, thicker walls or an additional mill? Will you keep the enemies at bay with your longbow or charge your horse right into them? It's going to be a tough night, but nothing beats seeing the sun rise above your little kingdom to live another day.
