Our Site Score

94/100

Carrion is a rare masterpiece of 'reverse-horror' that feels perfectly at home on mobile. Instead of being the helpless survivor, you are the amorphous, tentacled monster escaping from a secret laboratory. The movement is the star of the show; the way your biomass slithers through vents and latches onto surfaces is incredibly fluid and satisfying. It captures a sense of raw, predatory power that few other games can match.

The puzzle-platforming elements are clever, often requiring you to shed mass to access certain abilities or grow larger to bash through heavy doors. The touch controls are surprisingly intuitive, translating the chaotic movement of the creature into simple gestures. It’s a dark, gory, and atmospheric experience that avoids the typical 'hero' tropes, making you feel like a truly alien threat. For fans of Metroidvanias and sci-fi horror, Carrion is an absolute essential.

Dinsun Review

Carrion is a breath of fresh air, I’ll give it that. Playing the monster instead of the hero is a gimmick that actually works for the first few hours. The movement—this slithering, tentacled mass of meat—is technically impressive and feels genuinely alien. Devolver knows how to pick 'em, but as a gamer who grew up with clear objectives and maps, Carrion’s lack of a navigation system is an infuriating oversight.

You spend half your time feeling like a terrifying predator and the other half feeling like a lost tourist in a bloody sewer. The pixel art is top-tier, and the sound design makes every bite feel visceral. But once the novelty of eating scientists wears off, you’re left with a game that doesn't quite know how to escalate its puzzles or its stakes. It’s a bit too short for the price, and the ending is as abrupt as a power outage. It's a 'cool' game, but coolness doesn't equate to a perfect score in my book.
