Meridian 157: Chapter 1 in IOS

Point and click escape mystery

Our Site Score

95/100

Meridian 157: Chapter 1 is a masterclass in atmosphere for mobile puzzle games. From the moment you land on the desolate, sub-arctic island, the sound design and moody visuals pull you in. It’s a point-and-click adventure that respects your intelligence; the puzzles are logical but frequently require a 'eureka' moment that feels incredibly earned.

What I appreciate most is the logical hint system. It doesn't just give you the answer; it nudges you in the right direction, preserving the satisfaction of solving it yourself. If you're a fan of the 'Myst' series or high-quality escape rooms, this is an essential play. The story is genuinely intriguing, leaving you desperate to see what's happening in Chapter 2.

Dinsun Review

Dinsun here. I’ve seen enough point-and-click adventures to know when a developer is trying to pad time, but Meridian 157 actually keeps its feet on the ground. The puzzles are logical—no 'use the rubber duck on the exhaust pipe' nonsense here. It’s clinical, quiet, and moody, which I appreciate.

However, let's be realistic: as a 'Chapter 1,' it’s essentially a vertical slice. It builds a decent sense of isolation, but the narrative hook is spread quite thin. If you're looking for a deep story, you'll be waiting for future chapters to actually deliver it. It’s a solid mechanical exercise, but it lacks the soul of the classics.
