Dinsun here. This is what I'm talking about. Galaxy Genome is a 'proper' game. No energy timers, no 'pay to skip' nonsense. It’s just you, your ship, and a dauntingly large galaxy. The 2D perspective might seem like a step back for the genre, but it makes the controls manageable on a touch screen.

The depth here is legitimate. You actually have to plan your routes, manage your fuel, and consider your ship's modules. It’s not flashy, and the early game is a slow burn that might frustrate the TikTok generation. But for an old-school gamer like me, it’s refreshing to see a developer trust the player to figure things out. It’s one of the few games on the App Store that feels like a full PC experience from 1995 in your pocket. It’s not for everyone, but for its target, it’s excellent.

At the beginning of the game you are a pilot of a small ship. Financial struggle forces you to start transporting contraband. Certainly, it will lead to you being in trouble with the law someday. But at some point in your life you are forced to make a deal with the authorities of the system. And that is when your dangerous space adventure begins.

Early Game Survival
