Dinsun Review

Dinsun. I like this. It’s a pure puzzle game that actually uses the hardware it's on. You draw a shape, and gravity takes over. Simple. The difficulty ramps up appropriately, and I spent far too long trying to get three stars on levels that seemed impossible at first glance.

It’s a bit dry visually, and the ads in the free version are annoying, but the core 'think and draw' mechanic is solid. It reminds me of Crayon Physics from years ago. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s a smart, well-constructed game that doesn't treat the player like an idiot. That's worth something in my book.

Tips

Thinking in Shapes

When a level starts, analyze the goal. Sometimes a simple heavy ball (a circle) is enough to knock something over. Other times, you need to draw a 'lever' or a 'hook' to pull an object. Remember that the larger the shape you draw, the heavier it becomes!

You can earn up to three stars per level: one for solving it, one for staying under a certain number of shapes, and one for finishing within the time limit. Replaying levels to get 3 stars is where the true challenge lies.
