Twisted Story taps masterfully into modern creepypasta culture by taking something we do every day—texting—and turning it into a venue for paranoia. The premise starts simply: you are texting a friend, family member, or coworker about something mundane, but subtle details start feeling off. The wording is slightly wrong, or the tone shifts unnervingly, signaling that you aren't talking to who you think you are.

The tension comes from trying to navigate these conversations without escalating the danger. Selecting the wrong answer quickly leads to sudden, eerie BAD ENDs that startle and delight. While trial and error is required to piece together the full narrative web for each stage's True END, the eerie writing and clever messaging presentation make every story arc genuinely unnerving.

Dinsun Review

I grew up reading classic Choose Your Own Adventure books and playing old-school text adventures on home micros, so I have a massive soft spot for interactive fiction when it's done right. Twisted Story has the right idea on paper, offering dark, branching narratives where your decisions supposedly carry weight. But as a cynical forty-year-old who has read plenty of good literature, the actual writing quality often feels amateurish, leaning heavily on cliché tropes rather than genuine suspense.

Furthermore, many choices lead to artificial dead ends just to pad out playtime rather than meaningful narrative consequences. When the prose fails to grip you, clicking through dialogue boxes becomes a chore rather than an adventure. If you're a die-hard fan of interactive fiction, you might find a couple of entertaining hours here on a rainy afternoon. Everyone else can safely look elsewhere for compelling storytelling.
