Passpartout: Starving Artist is a hilarious and often stressful simulation of the art world. The core loop of painting your own 'masterpieces' and then watching rude NPCs critique them is endlessly entertaining. The game does a great job of making you feel the pressure of paying for your wine and baguette addiction while trying to maintain your artistic integrity.

The touch controls are perfect for the painting mechanic, making it feel like a digital sketchpad. As you sell more art, you unlock fancier galleries, but the customers only get snobbier. It’s a brilliant commentary on the subjectivity of art—what one person calls trash, another might buy for thousands of francs. If you've ever wanted to live the life of a struggling French artist without the actual hunger, this is the game for you.

Dinsun Review

Dinsun here. Passpartout is a clever little game that hits a bit too close to home for anyone who has ever tried to make a living in a creative field. The core 'hook'—having to actually draw your art—is both its best feature and its biggest frustration. The AI 'critics' are intentionally snobbish and inconsistent, which is part of the joke, but it can make progression feel arbitrary.

The puppet-theater aesthetic is charming, and the music is fantastic. However, the controls on a phone screen are a nightmare compared to the PC version. If you don't have an Apple Pencil, you're basically finger-painting like a toddler. It’s a short experience, and once you’ve seen the different endings, there’s not much reason to go back. But for a few hours of cynical laughs and creative fun, it’s worth the price of admission.
