For fans of the Nekopara franchise, Sekai Connect is a delightful surprise. Moving away from the pure visual novel format was a risky move, but the puzzle mechanics here are surprisingly addictive. It’s a standard 'connect' puzzle at its core, but the thematic tie-ins—like the skills being named after cafe treats—make it feel very on-brand.

The production value is what really carries it. Seeing the characters move and react in Live2D during the puzzle segments adds a layer of polish that many mobile anime games lack. The story is lighthearted and exactly what you'd expect from the series. While the gacha elements can feel a bit pushy later in the game, the early experience is very generous and highly polished.

I've seen the Nekopara series evolve over the years, and Sekai Connect is certainly its most ambitious jump. Adding RPG mechanics and bakery management sounds good on paper, but the execution feels like a 'jack of all trades, master of none.' The battles are largely automated, which usually bores me—if I’m playing a game, I want to play it, not watch it.

The art and voice acting are top-tier as expected, but the 'Neko-creating AI' plot feels like it’s trying too hard to be modern. If you’re here for the catgirls and the aesthetic, you’ll be happy. If you’re looking for a deep strategy RPG, keep moving. It’s a gacha game at its heart, and I’ve grown tired of those hooks in my 40s.
