There is something incredibly soothing about My Very Hungry Caterpillar+. StoryToys has done an incredible job translating Eric Carle's iconic tissue-paper collage style into a living, breathing 3D world. It doesn't feel like a 'game' in the traditional sense; it feels like an interactive bedtime story that kids can participate in.

The genius is in the simplicity. There are no 'lives' to lose, no timers, and no complex menus. My toddler loves the tactile feeling of dragging the fruit to the caterpillar, and the animation of him munching away is genuinely endearing. It teaches the basic concepts of growth and the life cycle of insects without ever feeling like a 'lesson.'

For parents, the best part is the 'end of day' mechanic. When the caterpillar gets tired and goes to bed, it's a natural stopping point for screen time. It’s a beautifully designed, high-integrity app that honors the legacy of its source material while utilizing the strengths of modern mobile devices. A must-have for every preschooler's iPad.

Dinsun Review

Dinsun here. This isn't a game for 'gamers,' but as a piece of digital craftsmanship, it’s quite nice. They’ve translated Eric Carle’s iconic art style into 3D surprisingly well. It’s a pet simulator for toddlers. You feed it, you tuck it in, you play with toys. It’s quiet, it’s meditative, and it’s respectful of the source material. It won't hold an adult's interest, but it's one of the better-made kids' apps out there. No stress, no ads (in the paid version), just a slow crawl to becoming a butterfly.
