No logic puzzles, really…
Wed Jan 10 2024 fwench toast catRated this 5 stars so the thing puts this on top ratings. I would actually rate this two stars, because I feel like you would do way more blockudo puzzles than logic puzzles. After a chapter, at least for me you start needing keys to unlock new chapters. To get the keys you play blockudo puzzles. It is very hard to get keys because you get them one at a time and each level requires a minimum of 30 keys and each time you play a new chapter you need 10 more keys than the last. So if I was playing this game for an hour I think I would have played 100 blockudo games and like 3 logic puzzles. I would recommend this game to people who love blockudo puzzles and logic ones but if you don’t I don’t think you’ll love this game. Thanks!
PS I think it would be more truthful to name this game “block puzzles” than “logic puzzles” and maybe you can make the logic puzzles bonus games that you can play when you get enough keys by playing the block puzzles. Have a great day to everyone who read this!
High potential, weak performance
Wed Aug 07 2024 PowerUp5There were 2 things about this game that made me delete it in a week. The first was the ads. Every time I finish a puzzle, there is an ad. Every time I click on any button in the "game" there is an ad. And considering that the first story is easy, the ads start to pile up easily. In most games, you'll have to play less than $3 to remove ads, but this game is crazy with its pricing! To remove ads, you have to pay $4.99! Another thing was the puzzle pieces. You really can't do anything without puzzle pieces. You can't even buy them! They only way to get them is to play a game to get puzzle pieces, and when you get to a certain amount of points, you get only 1 puzzle piece! It takes way too long to get puzzle pieces. I played the game to get puzzle pieces more than solving the puzzles. They should not even be in this "game" at all. After you finish the first chapter of the "game" you need 30 puzzle pieces to get the next story. And each story is only 5 puzzles. They only thing I like are the hints that help me with harder puzzles. The events are cool too, but need puzzle pieces as well. The best part is the daily challenges, which are pretty difficult. You can even play older ones too. Still, don't get this "game" because it is not worth it. I deleted it in a week. I barely made any progress. I was really disappointed, because this game has a lot of potential to be so good. If the puzzle pieces went away, I would easily keep this "game" for sure.
First Day Impressions
Fri Jul 19 2024 Beesko CheeparI love logic puzzles. This game is good at logic puzzles. But in order to unlock more logic puzzles you have to play a different mini game on the app that is entirely different than the game you (presumably) downloaded this app for. The daily challenges are honestly better to play because they don’t require “keys” (the currency you earn through this unrelated mini game) and there is a new one every day. But if you want to play more than one puzzle a day, presumably you would have to play more of the block mini game to earn the keys needed to get an undisclosed number of new puzzles. The ads are a thing. Like, I get that apps like this want to make money. Ads are a good way to make money. I have played many “free” games that have ads and the ones I enjoy have significantly less ads than this app. I would say I get about 3-5 ads a puzzle. And these aren’t long puzzles. If you ever see the little emoji pop up with the “genius!” or “brilliant!” exclamations you need to brace yourself; an ad is coming. I am happy that the keys needed to unlock puzzles aren’t hidden behind a paywall because that would be an immediate deal breaker. I haven’t played any of the other logic puzzle style game apps of this type so I am not qualified to state if this one is better or worse than the others. These are all just my first impressions after getting and playing the app for one day. Do with this information what you will.
More blockdoku than logic puzzle
Sat Jun 15 2024 MksteinI always read reviews before downloading apps, but the ads looked pretty good for this game. I like Blockdoku, so I wanted to know what everyone was talking about and to see if the developers had changed anything. To start, they have not. A logic “game” is more of a story. In the story, there are about five, maybe six logic games. Of course after every game there is the obligatory ad. After the “story” is over, you need keys to continue. 100 keys to be exact. If you’ve never played “Blockdoku,” it’s a cross between sudoku and Tetris. You need to put Tetris shaped pieces into an empty sudoku board. Whenever a box or line is filled, it is eliminated. You place pieces in until they won’t fit anymore. For every 100 pieces you place, you get one key. ONE. I play a lot of Blockdoku and I got six keys. As many people said, I played more Blockdoku than I did logic puzzles. I’m curious as to why, after reading SO many reviews where people complained about this over and over again, and the developers responded, why they haven’t changed this. If you are someone who enjoys downloading one game that is advertised but playing another, then, by all means, this is for you. I’ve seen many bait and switch games out there, so this is no different. Developers, I just don’t recommend answering so many reviews that you “appreciate the feedback” but don’t do anything about it. It kind of gives the impression that you don’t really appreciate it at all.
Kinda bait and switch
Sat Apr 01 2023 taoistmofoI play easybrain’s sudoku game and absolutely love it and need to go give it a great review.
My issue with this game isn’t with the logic puzzles or the fact that you have to earn keys to advance to the next set of puzzles. My issue is the ratio of logic puzzles to obtaining keys. It takes at least 30 keys and at 1 key per 100 points that takes also by playing a game they already have. At the end of the day you are playing their other game Blockdoku more than the logic puzzles themselves. This is my issue. I have to play an entirely different game more than the actual game itself. It’s due to a lack of skill but number of keys. If it were say 5 keys that wouldn’t as bad. But 30 keys means you need 3000 points just to unlock the next level. That’s a lot of game play of an entirely different game in order to play the actual game. Especially when I can just download the actually Blockdoku game from them. The least they could do was to make mini logic puzzles to earn keys to play the bigger ones. Or have a way to earn keys based how quickly you finish the logic puzzles or or how many mistakes you did or didn’t make. Getting the keys was tied into playing logic puzzles it would good.
Until that’s fixed I’ll stick to Easybrain’s excellent Sodoku game. I do highly recommend that game
Puzzles are fine but overshadowed by weird game design choices.
Tue Jun 18 2024 bumblebee1701The long blockdoku interludes are a strange alternative to padding your game with ads and honestly I don’t think it works. Maybe make the chapters longer, with a wait time in between that you can optionally speed up by playing minigames. Or just require WAY fewer levels in between, and more variety, so it’s more of a palette cleanser than a whole intermission. At the very least the puzzle sections have to be longer and the blockdoku sections have to be shorter if you want to keep it this way.
It’s also really strange to have the game instantly tell you if you’re right or wrong about something. On the first level that was any challenge at all, I immediately misclicked and couldn’t figure out how to undo it, only to realize that my misclick was locked in because it was correct. I think these games are superior in a digital format vs paper because it’s so easy to make a note or tentative guess then go back to change it. So the fact that this game forces you to do the puzzle in pen was unfortunately an instantly uninstall with no hesitation for me. I wouldn’t mind if it were a setting you can turn off, but there are a lot of apps like this and it’s not worth it to use one that forces a setting I don’t like.
Pretty good, but…
Thu Sep 21 2023 llama magic🦙So I’ve had this game for a couple of months now and it was great at first. I love logic puzzles, so being able to do some on my phone is great. However, after completing some of the logic puzzles, I had to earn keys. It took me to the Blockdoku game and at first it was actually pretty fun. However, you need to earn like over 100 keys to move on to the next set of logic puzzles! I feel like this is way too much because after spending a long time playing the Blockdoku to earn keys, I only get to do like 5 easy puzzles! Also, it gets really boring after a while so I suggest adding different mini games instead of having the same one every time. I feel like it’s not worth spending around an hour or more doing the other game, just for a 5 minute experience. Also, for the ones that you have to earn more keys for, it doesn’t even give you harder or more puzzles, you are just earning even more keys for the same experience. You can have people earn keys, just make it WAY less, because at the end of the day I’m playing way more Blockdoku than I am the actual logic puzzle. Please take this into consideration!
There aren’t a lot of logic puzzles.
Thu Feb 15 2024 subspace t mineThe rare time you get an actual logic puzzle (tutorial and daily) are fun, but you need a lot of keys to unlock puzzles. Keys are only earned by doing a puzzle where you place blocks around a grid (think Tetris but less fun, according to other reviews it’s the devs’ game Blockudoku but I’ve never played that so I can’t confirm, I don’t feel like downloading an entire app just for a review and deleting it 10 minutes later ). And there’s a horrible ratio. Usually when I play a single round of the block game I get 5 or so keys. I need 30 keys to unlock a level. That’s 6 block game rounds for every 1 logic puzzle round (usually it has like 5 or so puzzles, but keep in mind these puzzles take a VERY short time, one round is about the length of a block game round) It’s kind of unfun because I’m pretty sure nobody downloaded this to play Blockudoku. Also, the advertisements don’t even mention this. I wish the devs would put less of the block puzzle and more of the actual logic puzzles, or at the very least make the marketing more accurate. Thank you for reading my review!
Main game is locked behind another game
Thu Feb 23 2023 OlisaUzuI like the logic puzzles & I don’t mind the ads. The blockdoku is the issue. I’ve played it before & deleted the app in 5 minutes, it’s just not for me. So to my surprise all of the levels(except for events & daily challenges) are locked behind a “mini game”, of which I don’t really like. That’s not the biggest issue, the problem is the amount of keys required to earn an unlock. There are hundreds of levels each with an independent key requirement(the lowest I seen was 30, but it quickly ramps up to an average of 100). You have to earn 100 points in blockdoku to get 1 key. Maybe it’s because I’m uninterested, or I’m just terrible at the game because my high score is 388 & that took a lot of time.
Not a fan, & it’s one of those apps where the ad shows a cool feature you’d love & presents it as the main game. I figure they do this because it takes more time & effort to create logic puzzles, but the community can assist that on easybrain’s site with a section allowing community created levels & just going through to select really good ones.
Disappointed
Tue Aug 08 2023 bes225I absolutely love other games by this developer, so when I got an ad for this game I was excited to try it! I already had another logic puzzles app but deleted it and downloaded this one, because I trusted this developer and thought it would be a good game.
It has daily puzzles just like a lot of their other apps, but they’re pretty simple and bare-bones. I started the story mode and they were all incredibly easy and boring. Then, the really disappointing part. In order to actually play the logic puzzles, you have to do another, weird, puzzle game. A million times over, it felt. The game’s mechanics were never well-explained. So, not only was the game itself annoying and misplaced, it made no sense.
The gameplay for the logic puzzles themselves was a bit odd too. It has the same switch mechanic as Nonogram does, but that doesn’t really fit for logic puzzles in my opinion. Luckily, I was able to redownload my old logic puzzles app and get my progress back. This experience makes me hesitant to try other games from this developer, which makes me so disappointed.
