Dinsun Review
Legend of Mushroom is proof that you can put a cute face on a spreadsheet and people will download it. It’s an idle game through and through. You tap a lamp, you get gear, you watch the numbers go up, and the mushroom hits things automatically. I’m 40 years old; if I wanted to watch a bar fill up, I’d go back to work and wait for a Friday.
The art is genuinely cute, and the 'lamp rubbing' loop is addictive in a Pavlovian sort of way, but there’s no meat on these bones. It’s a gacha game that’s very good at making you feel like you’re winning while you’re actually just being groomed to spend money on 'Shroom Diamonds.' It’s the peak of 'low engagement' gaming. If that’s what you want, it’s a well-made version of it, but it’s still just a fancy Skinner Box.
