Our Expert Score

79/100

The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom is a fantastic entry point into the world of Wakefield for fans of the book and Netflix series. It’s a 'My First RPG' style of game, but with enough depth to keep older players engaged. The ability to switch between Jack, Quint, June, and Dirk is great, as each character has a completely different combat style—Jack is your balanced fighter, while Quint handles the gadgetry.

The game world is a semi-open Wakefield that you can explore in 'Big Mama' (the iconic pickup truck), which feels awesome. It’s primarily a horde-fighting game, so you'll spend a lot of time smashing zombies and slime monsters, but the boss fights against Malondre are genuinely challenging. The 4-player couch co-op is the real selling point here; it’s one of the few games that captures that Saturday-morning-cartoon energy and lets you play through it with friends. It’s a bit repetitive in the mid-game, but the charm of the characters and the fun of the upgrades carry it through.

Improved touch functionality, improved card action description visibility, fixed bug regarding attack arrow positioning.

Based on Max Brallier’s best selling novels and the Emmy-winning TV series, The Last Kids on Earth!

Join Jack Sullivan and his friends June, Quint, and Dirk as they live in a tricked-out Tree Fortress of Awesomeness and fend off hordes of drooling zombies and giganto monsters from another dimension.

In this rogue-like card game, assemble the perfect deck for tag-team combat in this cuckoo bananas post-apocalyptic world. Each character has their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Abandoned foster kid and monster-slaying tough guy survivor Jack is great at teamwork and fights harder when his health is down. June is an expert at kicking zombie butt as she is adept at seeing monster intentions and evading attacks. Super-rad scientist Quint can choose his gear on the fly and is exceptional at using buffs and debuffs, while former bully Dirk is a super-strong monster-battling tornado who can shield anyone in combat.

Play from more than 400 unique cards and embark on over 30 quests that follow the events of the first book. Unique to the Last Kids on Earth:Hit the Deck! is the story deck, a combination of cards representing the options available to the characters based on their location and ongoing story elements.

Your options are further expanded with a crafting table where you can refill consumables, upgrade gear, and even create your own custom cards tied to a specific character! The post-apocalyptic world may have ravaged the population and society as we know it, but on the plus side there’s no homework, no parents, and no rules!
