Back when the original Epic Mickey launched on the Wii, I thought it was one of the most genuinely interesting swings Disney had taken in gaming in decades—a darker, more imaginative look at their history that rewarded exploration and moral choice. Unfortunately, the original hardware held it back with sluggish controls and a frustrating camera. Fast forward to Rebrushed, and this modernized release finally gives Warren Spector's creative vision the polished platforming foundation it always deserved.

At forty years old, I have plenty of nostalgia for classic Disney iconography, but I have zero patience for sloppy remasters that just slap a high-resolution coat of paint on broken code. Thankfully, Rebrushed rebuilt the controls, sharpened the platforming mechanics, and made painting and thinning the world feel genuinely fluid. While some of the legacy level design quirks and camera stubbornness still peek through, this is easily the definitive way to experience one of modern platforming's most unique cult classics.
