Now this is a game I can get behind. Blacken Slash strips away all the modern fluff—the loot boxes, the daily rewards, the unnecessary 3D fluff—and leaves you with pure, unadulterated mechanics. It’s a tactical RPG that respects your time. The turn-based movement on the grid feels like a high-stakes game of chess, but with the dopamine hit of a Diablo-style loot drop.
The aesthetic is brilliant. Using just black and white (with some splashes of color for effects) keeps the screen readable and focused. At 40, my eyes appreciate not being blasted with neon effects every two seconds. It’s hard, too. If you make a mistake, you pay for it. It’s conservative in the best way possible: it understands that 'fun' comes from overcoming a challenge, not from being handed a participation trophy. This is easily one of the best tactical games on the platform.
