Let's be completely candid: Tilt Rips is not a video game in any traditional sense. As a 40-year-old gamer who grew up playing actual trading card games with rules, phases, and strategies, evaluating a game that exists solely to rip open virtual foil packs feels bizarre. There are no battles, no rule sets, and no tactical decisions. You tap to buy packs, swipe to tear open the wrapper, and flip the cards to see if you hit a rare holographic chase card.

And yet, the psychology behind pack opening is powerful. The tactile peeling animation and sound design capture that specific collecting rush surprisingly well. But once the novelty of pulling a few digital rare cards wears off, the complete lack of gameplay leaves a gaping void. Progression is gated behind virtual currency loops and ad views. It's an interesting novelty for hardcore card collectors, but as a piece of interactive entertainment, it's desperately thin.
