At forty years old, I've played countless variations of the classic Suika-style drop puzzle, and SlimeMerge doesn't reinvent the wheel. Instead, it coats the formula in adorable, squishy little slime animations that feel quite satisfying when physics chains start popping off across the board. Dropping slimes and watching them combine as the pile swells toward the danger line provides that familiar, hypnotic arcade loop.
At the same time, it's ultimately a lightweight time-killer. There's no narrative depth, no complex mechanics, and once you've hit the top tier a few times, the novelty wears off rather quickly. It's pleasant, clean, and unpretentious—free of egregious paywalls—making it a decent commute distraction, but hardly a masterpiece of game design.
