I respect the restraint shown in Sand. It’s a quiet, methodical adventure that doesn't scream for your attention with flashy microtransactions. The puzzles are generally logical, though a few rely on that old-school 'pixel hunting' frustration that I thought we’d moved past. It feels like a love letter to the era of Myst but stripped down to its bare essentials. The low-poly look works well enough to create a sense of place, but it lacks the fine detail that truly makes a world feel lived-in.
My main gripe is the brevity and the pacing. It’s a short trip, and while the atmosphere is thick, the narrative beats feel a bit too cryptic for their own good. I’m all for mystery, but you need a stronger hook to keep a veteran gamer engaged through the slower segments. It’s a solid effort, but it doesn't quite reach the heights of the classics it draws inspiration from. Worth a look if you're tired of the loud, busy nonsense on the App Store, but don't expect a masterpiece.
