Red Ball 4 is fine. It’s a solid piece of software that understands the fundamentals of platforming. The physics feel weighty enough, and the level design is consistent. But it’s remarkably safe. There’s no edge to it, no real challenge for anyone who grew up on Mario or Donkey Kong. It feels like a 'My First Platformer'—well-made, polished, but ultimately a bit boring. It’s the kind of game I’d give to a kid to keep them occupied, but for a seasoned gamer, it’s just another rolling ball game in a sea of rolling ball games.
