Raider is a fast-paced, vertical scrolling shooter that feels like a throwback to the arcade cabinets of the 90s. The controls are incredibly responsive—essential for a game that fills the screen with neon-colored bullets. It doesn't try to be overly complex; it's about reflexes, power-ups, and survival.

The progression system is standard for the genre, allowing you to upgrade your ship's fire rate and shield capacity. While it lacks the narrative depth of some modern titles, its 'pick up and play' nature makes it perfect for short bursts of action. The boss designs are a highlight, offering screen-filling patterns that require a genuine 'bullet hell' mindset to navigate.

I grew up in arcades, and I've played Galaga and Raiden more times than I can count. Raider tries to tap into that nostalgia, but it feels hollow. The pixel art is serviceable, but the enemy patterns are uninspired. It’s the kind of game that relies on being 'difficult' just because it has clunky touch controls.

There is no innovation here. It’s a retread of ideas that were perfected thirty years ago. It’s fine for a quick distraction, but it’s not something I’d ever recommend over the genuine classics available on the same store.
