Pool Table Challenge brings a solid billiards experience to your pocket. It’s not trying to be a fancy simulator; it focuses on being an accessible and fun pool game with reliable physics. Having 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and Snooker all in one package is a great touch, especially since Snooker is often left out of mobile pool games.
The AI levels are well-tuned—'Easy' is perfect for a relaxing game, while 'Hard' actually requires you to think about your cue ball placement for the next shot. The movement controls are diagrammed clearly, making it easy to pick up and play. While the graphics are a bit dated compared to some high-end competitors, the variety of modes and local player-vs-player support make it a dependable choice for pool enthusiasts.
I've played a lot of virtual pool since the Virtual Pool 3 days on PC, so I have a certain standard for ball physics and felt friction. Pool Table Challenge is... fine. It's a meat-and-potatoes simulator. It gives you 8-ball, 9-ball, and even Snooker, which is a nice touch often ignored by American-centric developers. The local pass-and-play is a relic of a simpler time, but I still appreciate its inclusion.
That said, the presentation is incredibly dry. It feels like a technical demo from 2015 that's been updated just enough to keep running on modern iOS versions. The 'Hard AI' isn't particularly clever; it just doesn't miss. There’s no soul here—no smoky basement atmosphere, no sense of progression. It’s a tool for hitting balls into holes, and while it does that accurately, it won't keep you coming back for more than a few minutes at a time.
