As a long-time fan of Ironhide’s tower defense games, I was skeptical about them moving into the RPG space, but Legends of Kingdom Rush is a masterclass in tactical design. The combat is tight and rewarding; every move feels like a high-stakes chess match. The way they’ve translated the iconic skills of the heroes into a turn-based format is brilliant. It feels exactly like the Kingdom Rush world we love, just from a more intimate, boots-on-the-ground perspective.

The roguelike elements keep things fresh, though the difficulty can definitely spike if you get a string of bad luck with encounter events. My only real gripe is that I wanted even more content at launch—the adventures are so fun that you'll likely breeze through them and be left wanting more heroes and maps. Still, for anyone who enjoys games like Slay the Spire or Final Fantasy Tactics, this is an absolute gem in the Arcade collection.

Dinsun here. I’ve always respected the Kingdom Rush games for their polish, but tower defense gets old. Moving to turn-based tactics was the right move. The hex-grid combat is tight—no fluff, just solid strategy where every tile matters. It feels like a 'lite' version of Final Fantasy Tactics, which is a compliment from a man of my age.

The roguelike structure keeps it fresh, though the difficulty can be punishing if the RNG gives you a bad hand. My only real complaint is that it feels a bit small. I wanted more heroes and longer campaigns. But for what it is—a tactical RPG on a phone—it’s remarkably well-balanced. It’s an 84. It respects your time and your intelligence.
