They simply don't make many games like this anymore, and for old-school purists like me, that is both a blessing and a tragedy. Legends of Amberland II drops you straight into a grid-based, first-person fantasy world with zero hand-holding, token cinematic cutscenes, or annoying microtransactions. I spent hours building my party, mapping out dungeons tile by tile, and managing turn-based combat encounters the way developers used to back in the golden era of PC RPGs. Sure, the graphics are purposefully retro and the quest structure is delightfully archaic, but if you grew up cutting your teeth on classic dungeon crawlers, this pure nostalgic trip hits all the right notes.
