LEGO Star Wars: Castaways is a refreshing departure from the standard 'retell the movie' formula we've seen in previous LEGO titles. By placing the player in a completely new environment—a tropical paradise that feels like a Star Wars version of a resort—it creates a sense of community that is rare in mobile gaming. The customization is deep; I spent hours just trying to find the perfect helmet and cape combo.

The 'simulations' are the meat of the game, and they feel like classic LEGO gameplay: smash things, build things, and have a laugh. While it doesn't have the deep narrative of the Skywalker Saga, the social aspect and the constant stream of new missions make it a game you'll want to check into daily. It’s light, fun, and captures that specific LEGO charm perfectly.

I’ve played enough Star Wars games to fill a Star Destroyer, and Castaways is an odd one. It’s essentially a social hub with mini-games disguised as 'simulations.' The hub world is surprisingly well-designed, and the customization is—as with all LEGO games—excellent. However, the core gameplay loop of running through the same simulations to grind for parts gets old fast. It’s clearly designed to be a 'live service' for kids. It’s technically impressive and the 'May the 4th' events are a nice touch, but for an old gamer like me, the lack of a traditional, focused campaign is a letdown.
