Hero Emblems II is a fantastic evolution of the match-3 RPG genre. Unlike many mobile games that feel like they're just trying to empty your wallet, this feels like a premium JRPG experience that just happens to use a puzzle board for combat. The story is surprisingly engaging, following a group of retired heroes called 'Night Chasers' as they navigate a world filled with conflict and old wounds.

The tactical depth is where it really shines. I usually turn my nose up at Match-3, but Hero Emblems II is a different beast. Itā€™s a real RPG that just happens to use puzzles for its combat. The difficulty is refreshingly highā€”you actually have to plan your moves and manage your party's resources. The story is a bit generic, and the dialogue can be clunky, but the core loop is incredibly satisfying. Itā€™s a premium game with no microtransactions, which is how games used to be, and how they should be. Highly recommended for those who want actual meat on their mobile bones.
