Green Pond Town is a fascinating departure for CottonGame. While fans of the ISOLAND series will recognize the hand-drawn art style, the tone is significantly darker and more mature. The 'cozy' genre is exploding, and while Green Pond Town has a very sweet art style, it lacks the depth of a true city builder. It’s more of a digital dollhouse. You click a button, wait four hours for a house to build, and repeat. As a 40-year-old gamer, I need more than just cute frogs to keep me interested. Where is the economic management? Where is the logistical challenge?

It’s clearly aimed at a younger or more casual demographic, which is fine, but don't expect it to hold your attention if you grew up on SimCity. The quest system is basic 'fetch' work. It’s a pleasant experience visually, but mechanically, it’s a desert. It’s the kind of game you play while watching TV because it doesn't actually require your full attention.
