Foundation: Galactic Frontier certainly looks the part with its sleek sci-fi interfaces, detailed cruiser models, and expansive star map. Establishing your initial colony and setting up trade routes feels engaging for the first few hours, giving the illusion of a legitimate 4X experience scaled down for portable devices.
Unfortunately, the illusion shatters once the timers stretch into hours and the pay-to-win walls drop. Strategic depth takes a backseat to whoever is willing to spend cash to instantly upgrade their fleet or bypass resource bottlenecks. Combat is largely automated and lacks tactical nuance, turning fleet engagements into mere stat checks rather than tests of tactical generalship. At 40 years old, my patience for games that treat time as a commodity to be purchased is zero. It's a shiny wrapper over a standard mobile free-to-play Skinner box.
