I've always had a soft spot for science fiction settings, so dressing up a standard trivia quiz as an intergalactic deep-sea dive in outer space caught my eye. Farout Krillion Trivia Dive attempts to give the tired old question-and-answer format some personality with futuristic UI design and cosmic framing. For the first thirty minutes, the sci-fi aesthetic actually carries the experience fairly well.

At 40 years old, though, style can only carry substance so far. Once you look past the neon space visuals, it's just another trivia app cycling through multiple-choice questions with minimal mechanical depth. The progression feels slow, and the questions themselves range from engaging to utterly mundane. It's a nice diversion for sci-fi nerds on a lunch break, but it won't keep you hooked for long.
