★★★★★ One of the best endless runners out there
Sat Sep 14 2019 Hammerspace9I don’t usually leave reviews but I just want to share that I love this game. I have played a lot of endless runners, they are my favorite type of phone game because playing them helps me relax and focus when I’m listening to a podcast or trying to think.
There are lots of endless runners that lose their appeal very quickly because they have little variety, a very low skill ceiling, or never update. This game has beautiful and unique graphics. There are dozens of cars to buy and each stage you can unlock is has a unique appearance and features. My favorite is Japan because it is much more challenging than the other stages. Some people say that it takes a lot of grinding to unlock anything in this game, but I disagree because there are inexpensive upgrades as well as expensive ones. I don’t mind playing for a long time because I find it so enjoyable as I mentioned above. The controls take time to gain proficiency with but that makes it more satisfying when you become better.
Overall, I really love this game and it’s become my go-to whenever I have a free minute. I check for new updates all the time and I hope this review helps the developers see that people love when there is new content! Thank you for this great game!
★★★★★ Fun game with room for improvement
Wed May 29 2019 Blucario93#DRIVE is an endless driving game with simple yet addicting gameplay. The player controls a car driving down a generally straight road, with obstacles such as other cars and buildings. There are several bottle caps you can find on the road which function as the game’s currency. You can use them to purchase new cars, colors, and upgrades such as speed, grip, acceleration, and coolness (I still don’t know what that does).
There are also gas stations which refill your continuously depleting gas tank and donuts that you can throw at the cops chasing you. The character who is driving also has short lines of dialogue that add a little bit of personality to the game. The visuals are very clean and overall great. The game at first seems a little hard to control, but after a short while it isn’t as difficult as it once was. I’ve read a lot of reviews complaining about ads, however they only show up about every 7-8 crashes and take 5 seconds to skip, unless you want to revive and watch a 30 second ad.
I think this game could use a few more modes, obviously more features would be coming later on, but for now, it lacks the depth that most free mobile arcade games do. Overall, I think it’s a fun little time waster, especially when you’re on the go and have no internet connection.
★★★★★ Satisfying. period.
Wed Dec 15 2021 Jftech01I was in desire pursuit of a game boasting endless enjoyment including content that I can (1) play offline, (2) play without lag and (3) escape the common desires of p2w player impression, and this game satisfies my desires perfectly. As far as gameplay proceeds, I was at first suspicious about how strange the controls were, but once I recognized exactly how they functioned, gameplay was seamless yet seriously challenging. Maps and cars are loaded with features and just the sheer variety of events that take place on the road are both eye-witnessing and some are even hilarious (example being picking up a donut and throwing it in the cop’s face and then being ruthlessly pursued by who knows how many cop cars…😄) Regarding all the enjoyable thrills of this game, the fact that it can be played offline, and the dead simple controls, I without doubt recommend this game: it’s a clever blend of casual driving, humorous humiliation of the npc drivers around you (the snowplow power up) police chases, and varying environments all in one.
★★★★★ A lot of fun
Sat Sep 03 2022 evsplosion321I had a lot of fun playing this game, and i just came here with a few suggestions that I think would bring it from a 4 to a 5. First of all, I know that we cant see very far on purpose to make the game challenging, but i think it would be more fun to render in the world a bit more. But if the problem is actually that some devices wouldnt be able to handle it, then I think a render distance setting with a few options would be really cool. I would definitely get immersed in the world if this was the case. Also, I love all the new options brought to the game with coop and duals, but now I feel like I have too many caps to spend. I think we should be able to at least spend them on something other than upgrades, since theres only so many we can get in a day without spending money. Maybe we can buy packs with them, or certain paint jobs, or special cars that can only be unlocked with caps. Anything would be fine really, since it just kinda feels pointless to play awhile when theres nothing to spend caps on. Other than what Ive listed, its a great game and Ive had a lot of fun playing it.
★★★★★ 3.0.4 Ruined What Was A Great Game!
Mon Aug 15 2022 MacSethNotBethLet me just start by saying this is the first time I’m reviewing anything on the App Store, so you should probably get the idea of how upset I am by this update. #DRIVE used to be a simple, intuitive endless driving game, filled with a great collection of cars, an easy in game currency system and a UI that was straight forward. Now… the collection is missing a number of iconic models previously featured, the new user interface is a mess (I understand the devs know it’s not perfect, but c’mon guys, I can’t even select the maps I want to play now) and the new system to acquire cars is just disappointing. Before you’d earn in-game currency (caps) that would be used to purchase cars and further upgrade them, well those caps are useless now as the only way to acquire and upgrade models in your collection is through receiving random cards through achievements or milestones. Yep sounds like a pay-to-play model or a cosmetics store is coming in the near future. To the Devs: Just bring back the game we all fell in love with and stop trying to be like other driving games on the App Store. Don’t fix something that isn’t broken, because y’all just broke it.
★★★★★ Good game but Mars broke my phone
Tue Jan 12 2021 woo all am ISo the game didn’t really get any updates for a while so I stopped playing for a little bit. Then the Mars update came out and I was excited. Having played this game so much before, I had enough postal stamp things to unlock the new map. I also saw the cool new cyberpunk cars but couldn’t afford them :( so I chose my trusty purple muscle car and went to head off into Mars. But while it was loading it would switch between the actual loading screen and a black screen and then it just had a black screen. Then I started seeing little white static lines like on a cable tv when there’s nothing on the channel you selected. I was scared. Genuinely petrified. I even cryed because of the memories I have with this old hand-me-down iPhone 7 Plus. Thankfully after a few times of plugging it in I was able to recover my device without any data loss. While I do have to applaud you for doing the impossible and making iPhone malware, I R E A L L Y need you to fix this before I’ll download this. Best wishes - (no I’m not going to tell you my name)
★★★★★ Was the perfect game to relax with, now a trash heap of typical mobile-gaming garbage
Sat Nov 26 2022 BackflipBadgerI had originally paid for removing the ads, which was worth it up until the last update. I wouldn’t recommend this game anymore. The newest update removed the ability to buy anything when you want it, instead opting for “time-limited” store selections. Any developer knows this is weaponized FOMO trash. If you modeled, textured, and programmed the car, it’s not limited to certain amounts. You also can no longer pick any environment to drive in, since the rotation is limited as well. So much for experiencing the game’s beautiful environments when you want. There’s also a new secondary currency, because having one currency to buy things wouldn’t motivate people to spend as much money apparently. Before the most recent update, I considered #Drive to be the perfect endless game to relax with. Now, it’s just typical mobile trash designed to try and pressure you into playing it all the time and spending money for in game currency to buy things when they’re artificially “time-limited”. As an added bonus, it seems to eat battery much faster now. Avoid this one, unless you have some way to play the vastly superior older versions
★★★★★ Used to be a good game, now... meh.
Thu Aug 25 2022 DerpDargon454Before I start, I just want to explain that the current version of the game isnt bad, it just isn't what I originally got this game for. They changed the cars to a card system, which is unfortunate as its something you see in many games now, and they also removed the ability to play any map you wanted at any time (previously you had to use postcards to unlock locations, now they just give you 3 locations for "endless mode" and have events), and while I was originally excited for the co-op/duel modes, the co-op mode is random matchmaking and just isn't very fun. I see many recent reviews getting dev responses commenting about the new UI but I don't think the UI is the problem. Its the removal of good features and addition of confusing features that don't make sense from a consumer standpoint. Also, in-app purchases in a game you have to pay money for, while not horrible, are a little strange, as thats usually for free-to-play games.
tl;dr, the game used to be good, they did some weird stuff and made it mediocre.
