As a 'gearhead,' I was deeply impressed by the level of detail in Custom Cars: Online Drive. Most mobile racing games give you a few paint options and call it 'customization,' but here you're actually adjusting camber and gear ratios. It feels more like a simulator than an arcade racer, which is a breath of fresh air on iOS.

The open world is surprisingly large and actually feels alive thanks to the other players zooming around. I spent more time just cruising and chatting with other drivers at the 'car meets' than I did actually racing. The graphics are top-tier, especially the lighting effects at night. There’s a bit of a grind to get the high-end parts, but seeing your vision come to life on the track makes it worth the effort. It’s a must-play for fans of the 'Forza' or 'Need for Speed' franchises.

I'm a car guy, so I wanted to like this. The customization is actually pretty impressive for a mobile title; you can spend hours just tweaking the look of your car. But as soon as you hit the road, the illusion fades. The driving physics are floaty and lack any sense of weight or traction. It feels more like steering a hovercraft than a 3,000-pound machine.

The 'Online' part is mostly just driving past other people who are also wandering aimlessly. There aren't enough structured races or goals to keep you coming back once the novelty of your new paint job wears off. It's a good platform for 'car meets,' but as a racing game, it's pretty thin. It needs a lot more polish in the actual 'driving' department.
