Bagatelle Ultra is a masterclass in digital preservation and tactile game design. By resurrecting the ancestral grandparent of modern pinball, it offers a soothing yet surprisingly engaging physics experience that feels entirely distinct from everything else on the App Store. The simulation of individual nails and wooden arches gives each of the nine historical boards a distinct physical personality, making every plunger release feel uniquely unpredictable.
What truly elevates the package is its consumer-friendly philosophy: zero ads, zero microtransactions, and a complete game right out of the box. The Daily Challenge provides a wonderful bite-sized reason to check in every day, and the optional tilt controls add just enough modern immersion without ruining the retro parlor vibe. It's a gorgeous, peaceful, and wonderfully crafted piece of gaming history.
Let's give credit where credit is due: in an era where mobile app stores are flooded with aggressive microtransactions, energy meters, and flashing advertisement banners, finding a game like Bagatelle Ultra feels like stumbling into an oasis. Developed with obvious care by Jonathan Clarke, this title simulates vintage parlour bagatelle boards with remarkable attention to physical detail, from the bounce of individual nails to the varying tension of spring plungers across nine historical eras.
Playing it is a surprisingly relaxing exercise in minimalist nostalgia. Pulling the plunger, watching the marble rattle through brass pins, and trying to land a high-scoring pocket captures the simple appeal of mechanical pub games. The inclusion of daily challenges and a strict zero-ads, zero-IAP philosophy makes it an honorable addition to any phone. Of course, let's not kid ourselves—at its core, you are pulling a plunger and watching physics handle the rest. It lacks deep progression or complex tactical layers, making it more of a delightful digital antique than a game you'll sink hundreds of hours into. Still, for what it aims to be, it hits its marks cleanly.

Requires iOS 27.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.Nine vintage boards, from a Victorian parlour to the 1950s space race. Pull the plunger, ring the bells, beat the Daily. No ads, no in-app purchases.
Pull back the plunger, let go, and watch your marble race round the arch, rattle through the nails and drop into the 250. Or not.
Bagatelle Ultra brings back the parlour game that came before pinball. Every board is simulated marble by marble and nail by nail, so every shot plays out the way it would on the real thing. A gentle shot curls off the arch early. A full-power shot races all the way round. And like a real spring, no two launches are quite the same.
NINE BOARDS, 150 YEARS OF HISTORY
• Homemade: green paint, red holes and a 250 that everyone remembers hitting exactly once
• Victorian Corinthian (c. 1880): mahogany, baize, brass bells and the dreaded ×2
• Belle Époque (c. 1905): teal enamel, gilt scrollwork and ringing brass mushrooms
• Brass & Mahogany (c. 1906): French polish, nests of brass pins and numbers laid in gold
• Gold Star (c. 1935): Depression-era tinplate with a 1000 at the heart of every star
• Pin Cricket (c. 1938): find a gap, find a boundary, chase the century
• Pin Football (c. 1950): free kicks, corners, a penalty for 150 and a goal for 200
• Four Rings (c. 1952): the toy-shop window classic, with four rings of nails that decide each marble's fate
• Space Rocket (c. 1955): ringed planets, a rocket lift-off and slots that pay more for every marble you stack
Every table has its own leaderboard, because a 500 on one board isn't the same as a 250 on another.
EASY TO PLAY, HARD TO PUT DOWN
• Drag down anywhere to draw back the plunger, then let go to shoot
• Holes are for keeps, but a fast marble rattles straight across
• Cups pay while a marble rests inside, until the next marble knocks it out
• Bells ring for bonus points every time they're struck
• A ×2 hole doubles your whole score, including every point you score after it
• Free Ball holes give your marble back
• Shake your device, knock on its back or tap beside the board to nudge it. Nudge three times in a row and you'll TILT.
• Optional Tilt to Steer: tip your device to lift one side of the board

A LITTLE HISTORY
