Backflip Madness is exactly what it says on the tin: a ragdoll-physics game about performing increasingly dangerous backflips. It’s notoriously difficult, but that’s where the charm lies. The controls are simple—one tap to crouch, one to jump, one to tuck, and one to land—but the timing required to stick a landing on a narrow ledge is incredibly tight.
Watching the ragdoll character hilariously fail is half the fun. It reminds me of the classic Flash game era where physics were unpredictable and often funny. There’s a genuine sense of mastery when you finally land a Triple Backflip off a skyscraper. It’s a niche game, but for those who enjoy physics-based challenges and high-score chasing, it’s a blast.
This game is basically a digital version of 'How many ways can I break this guy's neck?' It is incredibly difficult. The window for a perfect landing is microscopic, and you will spend 90% of your time watching your character flop onto the ground like a sack of potatoes. There’s a certain charm to the ragdoll physics, but it wears thin quickly when you’ve failed the same jump 30 times in a row.
The controls are a bit finicky; sometimes it feels like the game ignores your input, though it’s likely just my timing being off by a millisecond. It’s a very small, focused game. There’s not much to do besides flip, land, and move to the next ledge. It reminds me of the old 'QWOP' style games where the struggle is the point. It’s frustrating, unpolished, and arguably ugly, but there’s a weirdly compelling core that keeps you trying just one more time.
Performance: Runs well; load times are nearly instant.

The most common mistake is tucking for too long. Release the 'tuck' (third tap) when your feet are pointing toward the ground to ensure you land upright and don't faceplant.
I don't think any of us in the TouchArcade crew expected much when we picked up Backflip Madness last week, but somehow this truly strange...

The higher you jump before starting your flip, the more points you earn. Try to time your initial jump at the very peak of the 'crouch' animation for maximum height.
You need to land with your legs straight and your body balanced. Check the 'landing indicator' to help time your final tap.
