Sugar, Sugar is a masterpiece of minimalist puzzle design. The premise is deceptively simple: draw lines on the screen to guide falling sugar into various cups. However, the game quickly evolves into a complex physics-based challenge that requires genuine creativity. There is a Zen-like quality to the experience, aided by a smooth, jazzy soundtrack and the satisfying visual of white granules flowing over your hand-drawn paths.
The level design is brilliant, introducing color-changing filters and gravity-altering mechanics that force you to rethink your strategy constantly. It’s one of those rare puzzle games where there isn't just one 'correct' answer; your solution might look like a chaotic scribble while someone else's is a clean, efficient slope. It’s calming, intellectually stimulating, and perfect for short bursts of play.
Look, I’ve seen my share of 'zen' physics puzzles, and Sugar, Sugar is about as basic as they come. You draw lines, the sugar falls, it hits the cup. It’s a mechanic we’ve seen a thousand times since the early days of web gaming. While the transition to touch controls is functional, the novelty wears off once you realize the 'challenge' is often just tedious line-adjusting rather than genuine logic. It’s fine for a bus ride, but don't expect it to stay on your home screen for long.
The aesthetic is clean, I’ll give it that—no unnecessary flash or noise. But as a gamer who grew up on titles with actual meat on their bones, this feels like a snack that's all garnish and no protein. It’s competent, but it’s the kind of game that reminds you why we moved past the Flash era. It’s a 68—passing, but hardly a distinction.

Sugar, Sugar is a highly addictive physics puzzle game from Bart Bonte. The goal is to fill various cups by drawing lines on the screen to catch falling sugar particles. As the game progresses, players must use color filters to change the sugar's hue and navigate through increasingly complex environmental obstacles to reach the target amount for each cup.
Unique drawing-based physics
35 challenging levels
Relaxing jazz soundtrack
Free-play 'Sandbox' mode
When dealing with multiple cups, try to create a 'reservoir' line that catches all the sugar first, then draw smaller 'spouts' to direct the flow into specific cups one at a time.

Use your finger to draw lines. The sugar particles react to physics, sliding down slopes and bouncing off corners. You can clear your lines at any time to try a new approach.
Passing sugar through a colored circle changes the sugar to that color, allowing it to fill a matching colored cup.
