Wow, finally
Sat Jan 22 2022 Dr. Sam AdamsI played the free version and it was so brilliant I felt bad not paying for it so I did. I haven’t even tried it yet but based on the other reviews, I’m sure it will be great. The one game I played so far on the hardest mode available was solvable but not easy. I got stuck at a few points and questioned whether it was really solvable but decided to try and logic it out and figured out that I could.
I found the flagging and uncovering function to be a tiny bit clunky but apparently that’s customizable in the paid version so I’m sure I’ll manage. It was nonetheless a clever scheme and the biggest issues were the limitations of the phone rather than the app. I’ll try the pinch to zoom and see how I like it.
It is refreshing to be able to play minesweeper and devote your full intelligence to the puzzle instead of just clicking through a 99 mine field that will inevitably rely on guessing right at multiple points. This app is a gem.
Great
Sun Dec 15 2024 Bevel SquareGreat game and I play it all of the time. It’s worth the little bit the money the developer asks for it. Well thought out. Your first click is NEVER a mine and is ALWAYS playable! Love the daily challenges and now crave just the most difficult ones because I’ve played so (too) much :-). It’s addictive in an innocent way because it is a challenge. If you play without using flags you will still have to guess unless you can keep a count in your head, which I can not unfortunately but after a while you can usually guess fairly accurately. Do yourself a favor and read up on the tricks of the game to make it go a bit smoother for you. ie: 121, 1221, 11.
Again, great well made game.
Perfecting a simple game
Sat Oct 24 2020 NatacadoIt’s hard to find fault here. Minesweeper is a simple game that’s been done many times, but knowing that every level can be completed without guessing has made me stop and think longer, learn new patterns, and play more often because I don’t feel like the board is rooting against me.
Add to it the fact the the interface is pretty much a perfectly polished app - graphics are great, pinch-to-zoom works, and the options for how to flag mines vs reveal spaces is customizable makes it hard for me to even suggest improvements.
Actual skill-based minesweeper
Sat Jun 08 2024 patches_ohoolihanMy problem with minesweeper was always that you’re forced to guess. Imo, that should never be the case in a puzzle game. This variation did exactly what I wanted out of minesweeper.
If I was able to request one change to this app, it would be to add an ability to place “dummy flags”. When nothing on the board is jumping out at me as a guaranteed bomb/free cell, I’ll place down some flags as a “non-commital guess” and see what the board looks like with that permutation. Sometimes, I’ll reach a paradox that proves the starting “guess” can’t be possible so I know a flag cannot be there and can uncover that cell.
Occasionally though while doing this strategy, I’ll missclick somewhere on the board (which is easy to do with thumbs on a touch screen) which can cause my “non-commitall guesses” to be committed. Which can result me in losing the game off a missclick.
If we had a way to place “dummy flags” that have a different colour and/or shape (maybe a question mark), we could use this strategy for visualizing the board in different possible configurations without being at risk of a missclick losing the game.
Thank you!
Love this! Great for no-guessing Minesweeper
Sun Aug 16 2020 y87rpw24Really well polished app, I like the daily challenges and touch vibration. I still like “original” minesweeper but this is great to play games which are always solvable (no guessing) and to just become a better player. Love being able to see stats on other players time and getting a “perfect” score. I do wish the zooming in wouldn’t snap to the edge and that I could recenter more easily, it’s sometimes hard to tap on the edge of my phone. Great app overall!
Love it
Fri Apr 09 2021 ArriEllieI have learned so much about minesweeper strategy by playing this. The interface is fantastic. Making every game solvable fixes the biggest annoyance I had with minesweeper and on top of that makes it much easier to learn strategy because you know there are no 50/50s. The hints tell you where you should be looking, each time I use it I learn something new! If you asked me to come up with one thing that could be improved, I could not. Simply fantastic.
Great app but…
Sun Feb 20 2022 N00dle_kingI love this app and it makes minesweeper so much more fun. But could you please please please show us the time average only for perfect games when we get one for the daily game. If I get a perfect game in seven minutes and the average is four minutes it takes away some of my satisfaction from getting the perfect game because it makes me feel slow even though I don’t know how long those people would have taken if it was only perfect games.
Best minesweeper I’ve found on iOS.
Thu Sep 17 2020 mikeharwitzGreat UI, looks nice, play is very intuitive. I love the way it guarantees that the mines are placed in a way that the entire board can be solved without any need for 50/50 guesses. Knowing that, it adds an extra challenge on harder levels to think through the possibilities and deduce at least one free or mine square that then opens up more clues. If you haven’t played this enough for that to make sense, try a few games and you will see what I mean. Literally hours of fun with this game.
Best Minesweeper Game on App Store
Sat Aug 15 2020 Positronic MatrixThis game has a lot of polish and style. I appreciate that the first move doesn’t land on a mine by default and the hints (with a time penalty) are brilliant. I love the undo as well, that prevents an honest mistake from ruining a game. This is the Minesweeper update that I’ve been looking for.
The other clone I have been playing has a dated appearance and is plagued with adds. I hope you find a way to monetise this. I’d pay to purchase it or to download add ons.
Needs some tweaks
Mon Aug 31 2020 mkbuzz1I like the app and that everything is solvable. I would love to see an option to change hold length to mark bombs and the way to do it in the game is a bit finicky and doesn’t work all the time. At times, some squares are unresponsive and don’t do anything until I move the screen. Overall good but not great for someone trying to go fast.
Edit: new update makes gameplay incredibly smoother and cut my solve times in half. added a star.
