Laya's Horizon is quite possibly the most graceful game I have ever played on a mobile device. While the Alto series mastered the 2D plane, this move into 3D open-world flight feels like a natural and breathtaking evolution. The controls are the real star here; they feel tactile and weighted, making every narrow miss through a stone archway feel like a genuine accomplishment rather than a canned animation.

What I appreciated most was the lack of pressure. There are no timers forcing you to hurry, and no enemies hunting you down. The island itself is the challenge and the reward. Whether you are chasing a mysterious bird through a dense forest or simply watching the sunset from the highest peak, the game maintains a consistent sense of wonder. If you have a Netflix account, this is an absolute mandatory download.

Dinsun Review

It’s 2K. You know what you’re getting. The graphics are impressive for a mobile device, and the gameplay is smooth if you’re using a Backbone or Xbox controller. On a touchscreen? Forget it. It’s too complex for virtual buttons.

My main issue is that it feels exactly like 2K23, which felt like 2K22. The 'Arcade Edition' branding is a nice way to say 'no microtransactions' because it's on Apple Arcade, which is a blessing. But at 40 years old, I'm tired of the same animations and the same MyCAREER tropes. It’s solid, but uninspired. If you haven't played an NBA game in five years, you'll be blown away. If you played last year's, you'll be bored in an hour.
