★★★★★ I love this game
Sun Nov 28 2021 jojowabbitI first downloaded this game a while back, around when apple arcade first released and played it ALL THE TIME in between classes. It was way more buggy back then and has gotten so much better now that I’ve picked it back up. I love the addition of the career mode and I’m always up for extra customization. I’m not sure how long it’s been there, but it really adds to the challenge as opposed to the urge to pick the most skilled team every time in the tournament mode. The only thing I could complain about is sometimes the passing and shooting assist seems to turn off for a match, and the players seem to just be kicking every single time instead of passing, even when you press that button.
★★★★★ Fun, but lacking..
Sun Mar 01 2020 britishmexicanIt’s a fun game to play, but often times it feels lacking. The controls tend to fritz more often than not. I’ll tackle, and as soon as I take control of the ball my player will randomly take a shot as well. Or if I pass the ball, my character remains as the player first in possession. Or it’ll switch to the player the ball was passed too, but rather than run towards the ball, the controls take a while to react and the player more often than not runs AWAY from the ball. There should be some level of automated controls that helps players go for the ball, or not register one tap on the tackle button as both, a tap for tackling and then for shooting. And players should come in possession of a free rolling ball when near it, rather than having to run around the ball for a few seconds before taking possession. Friendlies are fun bc they don’t depend on you winning. But other than that, tournaments and such are a pain, and will be until the issues mentioned are fixed. Hopefully something can be done, but in the meanwhile it’s simply a fun game to play a few times a week when all else fails to entertain
★★★★★ Needs work
Thu Dec 10 2020 fguerra2999The game itself is really cool I’m not going to lie. I love the concept and the teams and what can be done in the game is super cool. The control really annoy me because they are lacking severely. For starters not even in fifa are the cpu defenders on your back as soon as you get the ball. As soon as I get the ball the cpu players are on my back and I can’t even pass because trying to pass the ball requires me to stop even though I keep trying to run while passing and since the cpu players are right on me they take the ball away every time. The same goes for shooting it is very hard to get a shot off cleanly the game is very sloppy when it comes to change of possession can you guys please fix that. On defense for corner kicks the only two options for controls are tackle and change player, so tell me how can I defend a corner kick with those only options it’s like a guaranteed goal for the opponent every time. The game itself is cool but the controls really need work please I don’t wanna give up playing it it’s so cool but if the controls don’t get fixed so it’s more user friendly I’m going to delete it.
★★★★★ Fun Game But Frustrating
Wed Oct 13 2021 b.l.41I live the game. It’s fun, easy to play, and a nice way to burn a few minutes here and there.
The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars are some of the CPU issues.
First, the goalie: it appears as though it does not matter how highly rated your goalie is. Mine is maxed out and the goalie doesn’t stop any more goals than before, and it doesn’t matter the level of the team I’m playing. If anything, the cpu scores more goals now that my goalie is maxed out.
The frustration with this is that it takes so many xp points to max out those last stars. If it costs so much more to max out a goalie compared to the other players, I’d at least expect to see the amount of goals he’s able to stop increase. But if the other team gets an open shot, about 75% of the time they’ll score a goal. Wouldn’t be as much of a problem if the AI was trying to stop the ball, but like I said, they just let the other player run past them without trying to stop them.
My players also will just let the opposing team run by them without trying to get in front of them or trying to tackle.
Finally, my players get injured nearly every game, which is really frustrating. And some times, when they get injured and I go to replace the player, the game freezes and I have to exit the game resulting in my team losing, regardless of what the score is.
I’m not usually one to write critical reviews. I get that lot of work goes into these games and I don’t want to come off as unappreciative of all the hard work that goes into them. But, because I’m paying to access this game, I feel like it’s at least somewhat warranted.
★★★★★ Could be AWESOME. Good fun. Very buggy.
Mon Mar 15 2021 ElvenelevensesOverall a very good game that I’d like to keep playing.
It’s a bit overwhelming at first but pretty easy to get the hang of it. You can slow the game speed down which helps, and you can set the match length as well. Many choices for formations, which I appreciate. I also dig the substitution and player positioning tools — Good work there; just detailed enough without going all stats-happy. And kudos for the co-ed teams!
Controls are easy enough, but I’d like some more buttons — A chip/lob option, and what about sprint? Also, when setting for penalty kicks, I’d like better/clearer controls for both keeper and player alike.
As to the bugs:
It’s tough to see the direction your keeper is kicking. Likewise, corners — Really hard to aim your kick.
A bigger issue is that sometimes when you win a tackle, you player will stop moving and just... stand still, opening them up for an a opponent’s steal. You can’t get them to move. Not good.
But the worst bug is when you choose Career Mode, where there are pre-season options where you can boost your stats by playing select events. There are 2 games and a penalty shoot-out. But when you win a game, THE SCREEN GOES BLACK and you are stuck in limbo! All’s you can do is force quit. This does not happen after winning a penalty practice. But it’s maddening to win a game and then be forced to abandon your experience points — and therefore your ability to train.
Avoid the training games and you’re *mostly* gonna have a good time — if the other issues don’t drive you batty. And hopefully, the designers fix these bugs in the near future. The game has great potential.
★★★★★ BEYOND FRUSTRATING.
Sat Jun 24 2023 colbyhannah1. The controls are terrible. It’s beyond difficult just to find and highlight the player you want to use. The other team will be driving down the field and when you want to chose a player to steal the ball, you have to click through almost EVERY player on the team first. Why doesn’t it just highlight the player closest to the ball?!
2. For you to power kick, you need to hold the kick button down couple seconds which gives defenders a chance to steal the ball. But when the computer has the ball and use a power shot, there is literally ZERO delay like the player has to experience. It allows the easiest of goals to the computer. Especially because…..
3….you’re back 2 defenders are USELESS. They will stand statue still while the team is pushing the ball down the field towards the goal. Try and use one of those players and you have to deal with problem #1.
4. Or how about when your defenders just stand there scratching their head? Does the computer ever do that against you? Of course not.
5. Goal kicks are almost always kicked in a different direction instead where you intended. Point the arrow and direct it where to kick… only problem is that it NEVER actually goes that way! Most times it will go directly to a defender standing in front of your goal and it will lead to an easy score.
7. Maneuvering through the settings mid game is TEDIOUS!!! Normally you can scroll through each option, but once the game starts you have to slowly click each option to get to the next one. Makes subbing out players a headache. Why not allow the computer to do it automatically?
★★★★★ Can’t stop playing! (Update)
Fri Apr 02 2021 JoshTorresDJThis game alone will be the reason I pay for Apple Arcade!
(The game is enjoyable. However, playing the career mode is plagued with a bug that gives you negative XP points after you win a game. **this seems to be fixed***)
This has become my #1 game and I can’t stop playing it.
The artwork is great and the options to customize are enough to make it fun but not too much to overwhelm.
It’s nice to have male and female players. Though I wish the hair styles for male and female players were available for both.
The game play can have a couple of glitches here and there. But it’s not bad.
The developer did respond to my email and worked with me for a solution.
***
Wish list:
Ability to copy your existing team to another slot to make alternate alterations (career mode)
Ability to change stadiums on game play (there is this awful purple turf - Halloween themed stadium that hurts my eyes as I play, the turf should be green)
Allow us to re-play the lower cups in career mode.
A board of player stats: Most goals, most fouls, most saves etc.
An MVP at the end of a tournament.
More buttons for players using Nimbus (or other console type) controllers
★★★★★ Casual enjoyment
Tue Feb 11 2020 tom_streeter‘Casual’ is not a negative word. This is fun. I’m not a knowledgeable futball fan, so I can’t speak as someone who has a deep understanding of the game. I enjoy watching it, and I’ve wanted an iOS game to play. This is it, as best I can tell. There are little touches here and there that make me believe the designers *do* have that deep understanding I lack. The mechanics aren’t overly complicated, but there is strategy to be developed. Practice is rewarded.
The star-off is for technical issues that don’t directly affect game-play, but ... come on. Every goal gets ‘first-timer’ award? That’s a first-update issue. How is it my players develop a fear of the ball? They must be scared of it *because they want nothing to do with it.*. Again, this is intermittent, not all-the-time.
I consider this minor stuff. I’ve installed and uninstalled a ton of Arcade games. This is a keeper.
