Let's Play! Oink Games+ is essentially a digital board game cafe in your pocket. Oink Games has always been famous for packing massive amounts of strategic depth into tiny physical boxes, and that minimalist charm translates beautifully to mobile. Having titles like SCOUT and Deep Sea Adventure bundled together with zero ads or microtransactions (thanks to Apple Arcade) is an incredible value.

The digital implementations are flawless, complete with snappy animations and intuitive UI that makes the sometimes tricky rules easy to digest. Multiplayer works seamlessly, and I love that I can cross-play with friends who own it on console. If there's any downside, it's that a couple of the games rely heavily on social reading (like bluffing), which loses a tiny bit of magic over the internet without voice chat. Regardless, it's a must-download.

Dinsun Review

Oink Games makes some fantastic, minimalist physical board games, but translating them to a digital screen strips away the tactile joy and nuanced social dynamics that make them work in the first place. Titles like Deep Sea Adventure are intact mechanically, but playing them on an iPad or iPhone feels remarkably sterile. The user interface is strictly utilitarian, and while the game supports multiplayer, the lack of face-to-face interaction heavily damages the deception and bluffing aspects required for games like A Fake Artist Goes to New York. If you play pass-and-play locally, it feels noticeably clunky handing a tablet back and forth. At my age, I would much rather just purchase the physical boxes, set them on a table, and invite friends over for a proper evening. It is a functionally competent digital preservation, but as a video game experience, it feels like it has completely lost its soul.
