Pusheen's Place in Apple Arcade

★★★★★ Fun and Cute BUT I Spend More Time Waiting than Playing

I’m a HUGE Pusheen fan, so when I saw this was being released on October 1st, I was sooo excited to play it! The game is really cute, and the mini-games are fun for passing the time. I also love the decorating/crafting aspect and the overall Pusheen aesthetic. My biggest issue is the lack of daily goals and how heavily progression is limited by time. I can complete all of my daily goals in about 10 minutes, and once they’re done, there isn’t much left to actually progress. Yes, you can keep playing the mini-games, but they don’t seem to provide the crafting materials needed to actually build and decorate your rooms. So I’m frequently left with empty rooms, waiting until the next day for more goals and supplies. I find this especially disappointing for an Apple Arcade game. I’m used to being able to play Apple Arcade games for hours if I want to. I understand time-gated progression in a free-to-play game, where it’s often used to encourage purchases or limit how quickly you progress, but Apple Arcade is already a paid subscription. I want to be able to play the game as much as I want and stop when I’ve had enough, rather than having the game tell me I’m done for the day when I still want to play. I really hope the developers add more daily activities, more ways to earn crafting materials, or some kind of progression that isn’t locked behind a 24-hour wait. There’s a lot of potential here, and as a huge Pusheen fan I really want to keep playing, but right now the lack of depth and the daily time wall make me worry that I’ll eventually lose motivation and move on to another game that lets me play at my own pace. Super cute, fun, and very Pusheen. I just wish there were more of it!
