Help · Battle, Stats & Breathing
Every choice can raise or lower stats. There is no single “correct” answer — only different paths.
Story areas
You travel regions of the story (Foothills → Mt. Sagiri → Final Selection → Corps Roads → Natagumo → Mugen Train → Entertainment District → Swordsmith → Hashira Domain → Infinity Castle). Only events, teachers, and bosses that fit the current area appear.
Core combat stats
HP — Life. Hits 0 in battle → death ending. Only heals on special events (not every fight).
Stamina — Endurance for training and casting Breathing forms in battle. Stronger techniques cost more Sta. Low Sta weakens skill damage and makes hard choices riskier.
Attack — Damage you deal in battle.
Defense — Reduces damage taken.
Luck — Random edges in fights and level-up gains.
Fate — Story weight. High Fate leans heroic; low Fate opens darker, harsher outcomes.
EXP / Level — Levels raise HP, Attack, and Defense (scaled by Luck & Fate).
The five elements
Elements gate Breathing forms. Raise the matching element to learn stronger techniques.
🌊 Water Flow, defense, Urokodaki path — balanced & reliable.
☀️ Stone Sun / Hinokami & many Hashira arts — late-game power.
Good: train with Hashira, keep focus, protect others (often raises elements + trust).
Risky: reckless shortcuts may raise Attack but cut Stamina, Fate, or trust.
Friends & trust
Allies with a mark can help in battle (they take damage).
Friend HP 0 → they die; their cards stop appearing.
Trust up = more help & story options. Trust down = colder, lonelier path.
How to do well in battle
Every battle turn shows the enemy’s intent (e.g. High Slash, Brutal Charge) and a position (HIGH / MID / LOW / CLOSE / FAR / AERIAL). You pick one of four moves. The goal is to bring the enemy’s HP ring to 0 before yours hits 0.
Turn priority:
1. Read the intent line — it tells you their stance.
2. Match or counter that stance with a Breathing form or basic move → Upper hand (~+35% damage).
3. Wrong stance → your attack is weaker (~−15%). Don’t force a mismatch unless you must.
4. Guard / Defend when they use Frenzy or Charge, or when your HP is critical (~80% less damage taken, but you deal little).
5. If they Iron Guard — your big attack is mostly blocked; Guard or soft poke instead.
Position matchups (what beats what)
Your move’s stance should match the enemy intent’s stance (or be on the counter list). Same stance always counts as a match.
⬆️ HIGH Enemy high cut / elevated. Good answers: HIGH or AERIAL moves. Leap strike, high Water/Flame/Thunder forms.
➡️ MID Straight thrust / square stance. Good answers: MID, CLOSE, or FAR. Most basic slashes and many Water/Flame forms.
⬇️ LOW Sweeping / low attack. Good answers: LOW or CLOSE. Low sweep, Water 1st/4th, Beast fangs, Dead Calm.
💥 CLOSE In your face (Charge / Frenzy). Good answers: CLOSE or LOW. Or Defend if HP is low — Charge/Frenzy hit extra hard.
🎯 FAR Ranged / keeps distance. Good answers: FAR, MID, or HIGH. Thrusts, Thunder openers, Insect/Flower range, Mist.
🌀 AERIAL Leap / dive. Good answers: AERIAL or HIGH. Leap strike, Thunder 5th–7th, Wind aerial forms.
Every technique has an element (Water, Flame, Thunder, Wind, Spirit, Stone, Sun). Each demon has a weakness shown on the battle card. Hitting the weak element deals ~+28% damage. All demons are weak to Sun (~+40%). In battle, each choice shows its good positions (⬆️H ➡️M ⬇️L 💥C 🎯F 🌀A).
Which attack is better?
Breathing form that matches stance — best option. Higher Power = more damage (Sun > late Flame/Thunder > early Water).
Matched basic move — fine if you have no skill for that stance. Still gets Upper hand.
Mismatched high-power skill — often worse than a matched weak cut. Stance matters more than raw power alone.
Defend / Full Guard — best when intent is Frenzy, Charge, or you are about to die. Not for winning damage races.
Friend assist (when offered) — ally hits and may take damage for you. Use when your HP is dangerous.
Damage also scales with your Attack stat, skill bonuses, and Luck. Defense reduces what you take. Low Stamina weakens Breathing damage — rest between fights.
Enemy types: Brutes/Charge prefer CLOSE · Ranged prefer FAR · Aerial divers prefer AERIAL · Weavers mix MID/FAR · Kings (Muzan) mix CLOSE/MID/HIGH and hit very hard.
Breathing techniques
Learned from teachers, Hashira, and hard training. Each form has a Power number — higher power deals more damage in battle. Matching the enemy’s stance (high / low / mid / close / far / aerial) gives an Upper hand bonus (~+35% damage).
Stamina cost Using a Breathing form in battle spends Stamina. Stronger forms cost more. If Stamina is very low, technique damage is weakened. Basic cuts cost no Stamina. Rest / focus choices and some heal events recover Stamina between fights.
Rough cost: Power ÷ 8 (min 2). Example: Power 16 ≈ 2 Sta · Power 40 ≈ 5 Sta · Power 64 ≈ 8 Sta.
Skill power by family
🌊 Water — Power ~12–42. Balanced damage + some defense. Dead Calm (11th) is the peak Water form. Blessed Rain can heal a little.
🔥 Flame — Power ~22–48+. High burst. Best pure damage early-mid if you raise Flame hard with Rengoku.
⚡ Thunder / Sound — Power ~18–45. Fast openers; strong if you match stance on the first hit.
🌪️ Wind / Beast / Mist — Power ~16–48. Pressure and multi-range. Mist needs Wind + some Water.
🪨 Stone — Power ~20–48. Tanky, solid mid-late. Stone Skin helps mitigation.
🦋 Insect / 🌸 Flower / 🐍 Serpent — Power ~18–44. Hybrid forms; need secondary elements.
💕 Love — Power ~22–40+. Flame + Wind gated; high trust with Mitsuri helps unlock.
☀️ Sun / Hinokami — Power ~50–72. Strongest forms. Need all five elements + high Breathing. 13th Form is the apex (~72 power).
How to earn ☀️ Sun / Hinokami
Sun is the hardest path — it is meant to be late-game.
Raise all five elements (Water · Flame · Thunder · Wind · Stone). Sun forms check every element, not just one.
Raise Breathing (🌬️) hard — train with teachers, waterfalls, Hashira drills. Hinokami needs ~45+ Breathing; later Sun forms need more.
Story teachers — clear Mugen Train / Hashira chapters for Hinokami Memory and Sun teacher cards (they can unlock hinokami, sun1, sun2).
Train Flame + Spirit + Fate — dance cards and pure resolve choices help the Sun gate.
Status panel — open 📋 and check “Ready to learn”; when Sun forms appear there, take training / teacher cards.
Kokushibo is weak to Sun — bring at least Hinokami or Sun 1st into Infinity Castle if you can.
Tap a technique pill in battle or Status to see its Power. Element req and Breathing gate which forms you can learn.
How to beat Upper Ranks (Top 5)
Upper Moons have huge HP (~1.55× multiplier) and hit much harder. Infinity Castle order in this game:
Level & EXP — Aim for high rank (Hinoto+). Levels raise HP, Attack, Defense.
Learn late forms — Water 8–11, Flame 4–6, Stone 4–5, or any Sun form. Power 40+ techniques matter.
Match stance every turn — Read the intent line; pick the skill whose position counters it for Upper hand.
Keep Stamina up — Don’t spam the strongest form every turn if Sta is low; mix Guard / basic cuts, then dump high-power forms when you have the read.
Allies — Bonded friends (Trust 32+) can absorb hits and add damage. Don’t let their HP hit 0.
Defense & Luck — Guard when they Frenzy / Charge. Luck softens variance.
Train before Infinity Castle — Hashira domain & Swordsmith are for unlocking multi-element / Sun. Don’t rush Muzan under-leveled.
Heal events only — HP does not fully reset between fights. Prioritize heal cards and Blessed Rain–style forms when available.
What is “good” vs “bad”?
Good path: protect Nezuko, build Hashira trust, learn Breath forms, face Upper Ranks, challenge Muzan.
Hard path: low HP/Stamina, dead friends, ignored training — fights become brutal.
Choices are not graded. Consequences are the grade.
Battle Combo (top-right of the center card)
Combo starts at ×1 when a battle begins. It multiplies your attack that turn with no maximum.
Same move name twice (same attack/guard label) → reset to ×1
Basic attack / Guard → +0.1
Breathing form → +0.2
Different breathing school than last form → +0.1 more
Same school, different form → +0.2 more
Friend assist → +0.5
Watch the top-right pill: 🔥 ×N and the bonus note.
Sun 13th Form
Need high Breathing (~80+), all five elements strong, and at least 6 Sun/Hinokami forms already learned (Hinokami + sun1–sun12 path). Train after Upper Rank fights; Status → Ready to learn.
Tip: after each choice, the center popup shows exactly what changed. Friend cards appear more often — protect / share choices raise Trust; Trust 32+ makes them an Ally (✓) who can help in battle.
