Was browsing apple arcade hankering for a decent adventure game— luckily spongebob squarepants is one of my fave shows, either way the game went well-above and beyond what I expected, it provides days of entertainment and it’s brilliant how they have the buddy-system where you can utilize all the main characters from the show. Great levels and challenges, beyond amazing graphics, and super entertaining as you go down memory lane, from Glove World to Rock Bottom. Major plus: voiced by the original one and only cast. If you make an update with some kind of optional payment perk I’m all for it, take my money. Worth it.

Thu Jun 04 2020 AstroBro_The game is pretty straightforward. You’re Spongebob, you go through each level that’s themed after places in the show. Each “place” has their own Boss you have to beat if you want to advance to the next level. You collect coins along the way & find hidden spatulas. If you collect all coins & spatulas in a level, you’re awarded an additional spatula.
You start off accompanied by Patrick, then as you progress, you unlock other characters who act as companions.
Annoying Nuances:
1) Game Center pop-ups are so intrusive & there’s no way to clear them even if your sign-out of Game Center. There’s an in-app, on-screen notification you receive when you achieve something, & there’s literally a notification for every little.
2) Only Specific Characters unlock certain paths, so you’ll find yourself playing the same level at least 3 times because some levels have brick door that only Patrick can slam through, as well as, a slim trail only Gary can slim. So, inevitably, you’ll need to go through the level with each character as your companion & you can only have one companion at a time.
3) If your playing using an iPhone XS, expect some serious lag throughout the game. It may feel like there is a bit of delay when you run or jump in the game, but after troubleshooting with Support, there is not fix.
4/5 Stars.
Tutorials are easy to follow, interface is intuitive, not much thinking required from user when navigating through settings or to start a game.

Mon Jan 27 2025 SaraJoyBaileyI love the daily challenges and have beaten all the levels, all the main storylines and special events. I’ve gotten all the hats available and all the achievements, except for 2 connected to Plankton’s birthday, which I’ve met the qualifications for, but for some reason it won’t reward me. And judging by how many don’t have them, I’m guessing no one else got them either.
I was playing the fun size levels and have 3 stars for almost all the levels. 2 stars for all of them. Tonight the daily mission was to score a 3 star score in a fun size level, so I played one I’m always just short of getting to 3 stars. Tonight I got it! I was thrilled. Until I went back to claim the mission reward and it didn’t trigger the reward. So I went back to the fun size levels and it showed I only had 2 stars for the level and my max score was 4,950.
I tried again, got 3 stars again, 5,100 points with 5,000 being the needed score for 3 stars. I moved on to the next level and payed it through thinking maybe the system needed to save the info. After winning the next one, I went back to the fun size menu and it still says I have 2 stars, and that my max score was 4,999!
I tried closing the game and restarting, and it is still glitching.
It’s so frustrating to finally beat a level with 3 stars and not get the credit.

★★★★★ 100% completed and still feels empty
Tue Jul 28 2020 Benji0214I went into this game not expecting much considering it’s a mobile licensed game by Nickelodeon (most of their games on mobile have been pretty low budget with minimal effort) but I can tell the people behind this game were real fans of the show. Tons of callbacks to some of the best seasons and relevant memes. Some of the jokes here and there even got a chuckle out of me.
That being said, I wish the game itself wasn’t an auto-runner. I’m fine with it being that way, but we’re able to use controllers across Apple devices now. It’s much easier to implement those controls and make it a traditional platformer this is only a minor complaint. A major complaint with me though is the game’s audio. Sometimes the music is either too loud or too low, even at max settings. Not only that, sometimes the music can drown out the audio so even if one of the characters said something funny; how was I supposed to hear it? It’s one of those things that irks me with a game and that costs it a star in my review.
Visually I think it looks fairly well animated and cartoonish. Spongebob and the gang are animated with tons of expressions and it really shines. I love the backgrounds too and the remixes to some of the older tracks from the show as boss music is a nice touch.
Overall I think this is a fun little romp to go down and kill for a couple hours, there’s definitely a lot of replayability once you unlock all the characters if you care to speed run all the levels 2-3 more times like I did.

Wed Jun 03 2020 L8rG8r400I had low expectations for a licensed Spongebob game, but hey, it’s pretty good! The attention to detail in the backgrounds is insanely good, and there are a lot of callbacks and references for fans of the show. The world selection is awesome, and I love exploring places like Glove World and Rock Bottom. A real treat for everyone who has seen these iconic episodes.
That said, I encountered frame rate drops on an iPhone XS Max (there really shouldn’t be on such a new device), but thankfully, the Apple TV version ran flawlessly. I also wish the game hadn’t been an auto-runner, so that we could have full control of Spongebob in these levels. I would like to see more traditional platformers that don’t cater to mobile controls with simplified control schemes. We can use PS4 and Xbox controllers now developers, please keep that in mind! Don’t be afraid to require a controller to play, or simply implement a touch-screen dpad for those who don’t own one.

Tue Aug 11 2020 C-h-e-e-s-e-c-a-k-eSo when I first saw this I expected this game to be pretty bad, but to my surprise it’s not and pretty decent. The mechanics are pretty nice, the scenery is nice as well, although it feels like a Mario makes level where everything is just thrown in there (platforms, coins, anchors, etc) also they use way too many anchors per level, like each one most likely has 30-50 a level.
A lot of the background is re used and pretty bland, but it’s pleasant to look at. The music is very chill, and as far as I can tell re used in some places, even so the music is my favorite thing about this game. The dialogue is kinda bad and very re used example: in the first battle, against plankton, plankton says “you can’t beat me, I went to college!” But he says that so often it’s just annoying and he says “thats just not fair” every time you cause him damage.
When you unlock a character, you can use them in a level but they just kind of float around you and mimic what you (spongebob) are/(is) doing, which is pretty boring. Spongebob as a few idle movements, but the rest of the characters only have one which is fair, but I digress.
This game is fun, the music is nice, easy to play but its not that entertaining even so, I recommend you get this game, and if you have a young kid, they will love it.

Fri Aug 27 2021 Speedboy CI like this game until I got to the second level on jellyfish fields. It made me really angry because everything was killing me and why do you have to put a character that you don’t even have at a level I’m trying to collect every coin and it’s really frustrating when I die. I play on an iPad not even accidentally bite it when I am mad. Can you please make it so the levels have areas where you can go onto the weather available character that you’ve already unlocked the mystery one would you can’t unlock I think until the end of the game. I might have some spelling errors because I use dictate. I have a section for games that need to be approved before I play them if this keeps happening I’m going to put in that section.

Wed Sep 23 2020 Bamaboi32Loved the game till I made it near the in of glove world not sure what happen but now there is a big delay when tapping to jump worked fine till I got to glove world and has gotten even worst in rock bottom to where I don’t even want to play the game anymore when I tap to jump it’s a couple second delay before he will actually jump causing me to fall and die it’s really annoying so I have to tap really fast several times when I want to jump to make sure he jumps in time it’s ether a delay or not registering me tapping and I know it’s not my phone I have no problems with any other game or when texting everything responds fine buts it’s so bad almost unplayable would be a 5 star game if it wasn’t for that jumping is the main part of the game if you can’t jump then the game doesn’t work
