Dinsun Review

I spent a massive portion of my teenage years running through the corridors of Doom and Quake, so Boltgun speaks my language perfectly. The game asset port is direct and uncompromising; the chunky pixelated sprites, heavy metal shredding, and visceral explosions feel fantastic. Ripping through Chaos heretics with a chainsword feels exactly like a classic 90s shooter should. There are no modern microtransactions or live-service filler arcs here, which is a massive win.

But we need to address reality: playing an ultra-fast, twitch-reflex first-person shooter on a flat sheet of mobile glass is fundamentally flawed. The interface layout is a crowded mess of virtual joysticks, jump triggers, and weapon swap wheels that constantly obscure your vision. Trying to circle-strafe a Greater Demon while aiming accurately with touch gestures is an exercise in pure frustration. It is a brilliant game completely mismatched with its stock mobile input hardware. Unless you attach a controller, you will be fighting the layout more than the armies of Chaos.
